Listed below are current ministries that need additional volunteers. If you would be interested in volunteering or would like more information please call Paul Givens, Coordinator of Volunteer Ministries, at 893-3455.
  • Administrative Team

  • Team members perform general office work which can include light typing, data input into church systems for managing membership and other special projects.  Also includes general greeting at the church office and conducting telephone campaigns of various types in support of church activities.  Volunteers generally work one four hour shift each week.  Contact Kathryn Wright (893-3455).

  • Birthday Card Ministry

  • Team members maintain date of birth records on all members of St. Mark’s. The team members use this information and mail a birthday well wish to each member on his/her birthday.  Contact Natalie Beckman (893-1233).

  • Disaster Relief Team Ministry

  • Team members respond to natural disasters in the southeastern region of the country.  Equipment and transportation vehicles are maintained at the church property.  The disaster trips normally range in time from three days to one week.  The team is equipped to provide tree removal.  Contact Paul Givens (893-3455).

  • Furniture Ministry Team

  • Team members provide assistance picking up furniture from community members who have donated furniture for use in this ministry.  This furniture is then delivered to economically disadvantaged families, burn outs and victims of domestic violence. Team members work on a rotating schedule (approximately every six weeks) on Saturdays from 7:00 a.m. until approximately 2:00 p.m.  Contact Paul Givens (893-3455).

  • God's Gardeners Ministry

  • Volunteers, known as “God’s Gardeners,” assist in maintaining the appearance of the church grounds. Specific garden areas and beds are assigned, and volunteers weed, pick up liter and generally keep up the appearance of their small, assigned areas. By assigning several areas, time required by each volunteer is minimal, usually on an as needed basis. Contact Juanita Greer (867-9258).

  • Greeter Ministry

  • Team members maintain presence at the church entrances and narthex each Sunday morning. The team members greet visitors and provide information about St. Mark’s.  Contact Mary Jane Henry (896-4752).

  • Helping Hands Ministry

  • Team members help the elderly, handicapped, and financially challenged single parents in our congregation with home maintenance projects.  Contact Ray Bennett (494-1462).

  • In Touch Ministry

  • Volunteers stay in touch with those who are in long term care facilities, homebound, and sick through delivering and serving communion, regular visits, cards, and phone calls.  Contact Trinace Campbell (893-1003).

  • Local Missions

  • Team members help financially challenged local families needing major home repairs.  This is similar to the Helping Hands team, except this team deals with major home repairs instead of everyday home maintenance projects. Contact Dave Roesler (849-9563).

  • Manna Ministry Team

  • Provide meals for family of deceased members.  Contact Judy Stacey (890-6643).

  • Phone Ministry

  • Attendance cards are completed by those in attendance on Sunday including first time visitors.  A volunteer pulls information (name and phone number) from the attendance cards on Monday morning and E-mails this information to a team of volunteers.  These volunteers contact the first time visitors with a simple “glad you were here” phone call and answer any questions the visitors may have about St. Mark’s.  The calls are scheduled so that a visitor will receive calls from two volunteers during the first week after the first visit.  Contact Juanita Greer (867-9258).

  • Room in the Inn Ministry

  • Room in the Inn is hosted by St. Mark’s at least twice a month.  Volunteers are needed to provide food.  Contact Ginger Ingle (890-3823).

  • Scouting Ministry

  • Our mission is simple. We deliver the promise made in the Boy Scout Handbook:  Adventure, Friendship, Outdoor Skills, Leadership, Values and, most of all, Fun!  Boy Scout Troop 398 currently has over 60 youth members from throughout the community.  Many adult volunteers are needed to provide a quality program for our scouts.  We welcome your help-whether it is teaching a skill for a few hours or serving in a leadership role.  We promise you lots of good food, fellowship and fun!  Troop meetings are Mondays nights from 7:00-8:30 p.m.  Call Mike Warren 896-1994.

  • Student Mentoring Team

  • Team members spend one hour per week with a student.  The student is assigned by a classroom teacher along with the material to be covered that week.  Contact Donna Gibson (962-7721).

  • Video Ministry

  • Volunteers in this ministry operate video equipment and record one of the Sunday morning services, duplicate as necessary and deliver the videos to shut-ins and homebound members.  Contact Diane Moran (867-8383).
